The Advisory Board for Arizona Recruiters is responsible for setting the overall strategy and direction for the community, content, education and agendas for our recruiting conferences and events.
With 22 years of human resources and talent acquisition leadership experience, Jason Buss is a recognized expert with deep experience in identifying, recruiting and hiring high-performing teams. He is currently the Vice President of Talent Acquisition for MongoDB.
Jason has authored and published content in, and has been quoted by The Huffington Post, Fast Company, Bloomberg, MarketWatch, Society for Human Resource Management, Corporate Executive Board and more.
He is the founder of the Recruiters Network, and serves as the president and community leader for several of the nation’s largest and most active regional recruiting communities including Minnesota Recruiters, California Recruiters, Denver Recruiters, Florida Recruiters, Wisconsin Recruiters, Michigan Recruiters and Oregon Recruiters.
President & Community Leader
Rebecca relocated from Minnesota to Arizona in 2016 for her current role as Director of Talent Acquisition at P.F. Chang’s. She has been in and around the talent acquisition space for 10+ years at a variety of organizations in both full-time and consulting roles. She is passionate about people – identifying, attracting, onboarding and retaining great talent through planning and strategy, competency development, employment branding, social media, mentoring/coaching/training, relationship building/management, employee engagement, and analytics. Her top 5 CliftonStrengths are Activator, Strategic, Futuristic, Connectedness, and Includer. She was involved from the beginning with the very first community in the Recruiters Network in Minnesota, and is excited to be leading the newest community in Arizona!
She loves (in no particular order) cycling, hockey (Go Wild!), meeting people, exploring new places, youth ministry, writing & facilitating murder mysteries, food (and posting pictures of it on social media!), her family, and giving back to others. And Pottery Barn. Much to her husband’s dismay.

Taylor Martinez is the Marketing & Events Specialist for the Recruiters Network. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of St.Thomas in 2018. While studying at the University of St. Thomas she had the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland, Argentina, and Brazil. Also, during the completion of her degree, she underwent many different work experiences such as being a Marketing Research Intern for Sidewalk Dog, Social Media Intern for Hy-Vee, and Talent Acquisition & Social Media Intern for Spok. Throughout her experiences, she has become increasingly interested in social media and how its use can shape and grow an organization.
Taylor has proudly lived in Minnesota her whole life. She is passionate about volunteering and has spent numerous hours volunteering with the Jeremiah Program. In her free time, she enjoys partaking in outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming, as well as going for walks with her adorable English Mastiff named Mabel.
Jamie Starner is the Director of Recruiting and Diversity for Benihana, Inc. She oversees a recruiting team for four brands and approximately 100 restaurants. She is passionate about both the hospitality industry and talent acquisition. Her strengths are in relationship building, reports and data, technology and process improvement. Four years ago, she started and still runs a networking group specific to restaurant recruiters to provide collaboration and education to the recruitment department in the restaurant space.
Jamie was born and raised in Arizona. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from ASU and Masters of Education in Human Relations from NAU. She holds her GCDF and SHRM-CP. Jamie enjoys volunteering, cooking, hiking and traveling.
Carrie works out of the P.F. Chang’s Global Headquarters office in Scottsdale as the corporate recruitment lead. She has 9 years of experience in talent acquisition and has a passion for delivering an excellent candidate experience as well as finding a great match between hiring leaders and candidates. She also enjoys reengineering processes and systems to make things work even more efficiently. Her top 5 CliftonStrengths are: Strategic, Analytical, Competition (she LOVES winning!), Responsibility, and Deliberative.
Carrie is an Arizona native. When Carrie isn’t recruiting, you can find her spending time with her husband and 2 dogs, planning their next trip in San Diego, or making handmade cards. She also dreams of owning an original VW Bus one day.
Steph is a positive, high-energy, solutions-oriented leader with proven results in implementing people strategy, aligning policy to key business objectives, design & facilitation of employee training (live and remote), and inspiring & motivating individuals/teams to create successful outcomes while navigating constant corporate change.
She is energized by identifying solutions to complex & demanding challenges that impact people and the bottom line and excels at creating work environments where employees are challenged, bring their best game, and love their jobs. Developing and implementing effective processes and systems is one of her key strengths and aids in the creation of strong teams and a healthy workplace culture.
Steph is a crazy cat lover and enjoys having them pose for unusual pictures, such as eating nachos and drinking cocktails. Ask her about it!
JoLyn Simms is a Major Account Executive at CareerBuilder with over 15 years of experience in leadership and consultative sales. The past 7 years she has worked alongside enterprise and small business organizations to help attract, screen, and on-board new employees by leveraging data and technology. She also spent multiple years as a hiring manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car working her way up from Intern to Area Manager.
Born and raised in Arizona, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Arizona State University. JoLyn enjoys travel, sporting events, festivals and is finally getting caught up on Game of Thrones. She has a one year old lab named Mojo that keeps life exciting and will be planning a wedding this year.
Todd grew up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and relocated to Surprise with his family in 2006. He has been in the mortgage business for over 20 years with half of that time spent on the direct lending side as a loan officer, broker, and lending manager. He moved over into mortgage recruiting about 2 years ago so he could use his knowledge and experience to help others find their career paths. He is currently the Branch Development Manager for Finance of America, one of the largest direct lenders in the business, and recruits for operations support as well as loan officers, branch managers, and area sales managers.
He loves sports and enjoys playing golf as much as he can. He just finished up a 2 year run as booster club president for the Willow Canyon High School boys basketball team. His son is set to graduate in May 2019, which will make him and his wife empty nesters, but they will still have their hands full with 4 cats and 2 dogs.
Arlene has 15 + years of experience in the talent acquisition space with a variety of sectors, including finance/banking, and mortgage operations/sales.
2 years ago she found her dream role as a Talent Acquisition Manager for Evergreen Home Loans and fell in love with the mortgage industry! She is continually striving for excellence within the mortgage Industry and as a world-class connector and has a passion for inspiring others to sharpen their skills and connect them with the right people to achieve their career goals.
Arlene lives in the Phoenix area with her husband and 2 teen daughters. She loves to travel, hike, run destination races, and obsessively takes pictures of her rescue dogs.
